In 2005, I decided to reinvent myself as a solo artist. This product is the result of that thought. Interestingly enough, it was also the beginning of a songwriting partnership with Dr. Keola Donaghy, director of Maui College’s Institute of Hawaiian Music.
It was also the final album project my dad would see me do, because he passed shortly after its release. I dedicated the song “Manu Poʻouli” in his honor.
The bird was the last of its kind, and when it died, the species quietly slipped into extinction. “Makuakāne” appropriately means father.
It is available for purchase on iTunes.
